Visit on Novembern20.

November 20, 2013, At Cascade Gardens
I felt bad all the way home  when I thought of Kay. Even  after getting home.  Leaving her once is bad enough but twice is taking chances that she might want to come with me.  That is a disappointment and I don't like her to be disappointed in her condition.  I got there in very good time because the pickup was close to 12:30 and  there were no  other pickups on the way.  When I got there she was indicating there was something she did not like about the sweater she had on.  I managed to figure out that she did not have a bra on and figured she did not like that.  Usually she is wearing some nondescript  blouse or sweater and no bra is not so evident.  So I rummaged around her chest of drawers and found one.  I got her to take off her sweater and got the bra  on her with one hook.  With the condition of my eyes are I figure that is good  so don't press my luck by getting it unhooked and not able to hook it up again. So I didn't try for the second hook.  We went to the iron chairs in the hall and I gave her a couple truffles.  Eventually we went back to her room where we lay on the bed.  I was very tired. When I went to see her I had expected to take back a computer to Costco and had left it in her room.   The taxi driver  gives me a big break on the price.  and doe not charge me for the wait.  Even gives me a big break on the fare.  this job could just as well be done tomorrow.  But when I left Kay I left the computer  in her room and I went back to get it.  I had already told her goodbye and that I would see her tomorrow which was OK with her.  After getting downstairs I decided to go back and get it instead of leaving it for tomorrow. That's when the problem came about.. I got into her room and picked up the computer which is where she still was.  I waved goodbye to her again and went back down the hall  to wait for the elevator. Soon she also came down the hall with her walker and joined me and a couple other also waiting for the elevator.

that's where the problem came about.  Now she was probably expecting to go with me.  so when the elevator did arrive she would have to be told she could not come with me.  You could see the expression in her eyes that she was expecting to come with me but as with all the others she had to be told she could  not come.  It had to be a disappointment.  Disappointments to people in their right minds is to be expected but disappointments to those who can not understand and you can not explain it to is a different matter.   But there was nothing I could do but close the elevator door in her face and hope she was not too disappointed while tellng her  I would see her tomorrow. I hated lleave with her not understanding.
November 20,  2013 at Cascade Gardens

There is another time of day when I have to think of Kay.  When I go around the apartment and start turning off the lights to go to bed.  I cant but help think of going to bed alone after so many years of not being alone when this is done.

Tonight I thought I would do dinner differently.  When coming home from seeing Kay I decided that instead of having dinner here at Cascade Park Vista I would go to a nearby tavern and get a meal and beer.  There are three real close.  One accoss the street and two just up the block.  They have some sort of menu so I decided I would go there instead of eating here at the Gardens.  I had a Taco, their version.  Not that bad but  I don't think I would have another. A block up the hill is a Japanese restaurant and although I am not all that fond of Japanese food I may try it for a change.

Visit to Kay Wednesday Nov 13

Orchid brought by Mary and Robin about a month ago.

Kay Today. Could you but love a person such as this?

Jaiden at Cascade Gardens
Short ,visit with Kay today. I brought her truffles today.Yesterday was the first time I gave her a truffle instead of a toffee.  The toffee is hard so she cant eat it very well. She has taken to the truffle because she can eat it easily and it is very good. She ate 3.  Then I gave her a graham cracker  and I think she ate it too but by then I  had to leave and could not wait around to see if she did.
It is hard to leave her when she is not happy with my leaving.

Today she seemed to want to go with me.  When she waves and smiles I am pretty sure she understands I am coming back .  Today I had to leave in such a hurry I am not sure she understood. So it was hard to leave.

9-11-2013 No shuttle today

Kay and daughter Dianne

I wen to see Kay today and she was about her normal self for this condition.   She was sitting in the TV room with quite a few others.  Some of them responded when I said I was glad to see them.  Kay was sitting looking ahead not at the  screen.Just sitting there.  this seems normal.  took her outside as the weather was very warm.  Later it got to over 90 in some areas. We sat and I gave her a Costco Toffee which she likes.  The  a Graham cracker.  The aid said she took her pills and ate her meal.  I check every time now as if she did not take the pills for the nurse sometimes she will take them from me.

I had to take a cab because I had neglected to get registered for the ride today on the shuttle.  It is a poor substitute for transportation.  the problem it is not a taxi but they can be detoured to drop off other riders or pick up  and drop off even before you yourself gets to your destination.  I have had it take up to an hour for this 12 minute drive to Cascade Gardens where Kay is.  If we had given  Kay the Anti-depressant a few days earlier I think we would still be together in the apartment because her Migriane headaches would have stopped and I could have continued taking care of her with the  assistance of COPES.

I called Roger the cab driver back and I returned to Cascade Gardens Vista.

Why Kay Did What She Did

She was good with bubblegum

Every one is concerned about what Kay did when we took her back to Cascade after we took her out. We all went to meet her, Cheryl Brady, Marsha tank and Cheryl's two girls. She immediately began telling us that she wanted to go.  She could not tell us where she wanted to go.  Not being able to find out where she wanted to go we just had to ignore her wants and prevailed on her to go with us to the  Krispy Creme.  While  she was enjoying the company of two friends with two daughters and me she was still thinking of going somewhere.  Where we did not know or even know she was thinking about. All along she must continued  to think of going but kept quiet as we enjoyed the donuts.  Finally we returned to Cascade and had to leave her.  She seemed a little disturbed when we said our goodbyes   but not enough for ua to know it was building to an explosion that would rock Cascade Gardens.

After we left she apparently started adgitating somehow that grew and grew untill she began fighting with everyone there.  They had to finally take her to the Emergency at the hospital and do some tests.

They did a blood test there and found she had a urinary tract infection that might have contributed to the outburst.

Today the 21st I decided to go back and see how she is.  She was in the tv viewing room but no one seemed to be watching the TV.  I walked in and tried to see where she was but with the glare and the cataracts I could not distinguish who was whom.  By now I am pretty well known and they laughed when I asked where my better half was.   Recognition of me by her was immediate indicating a fair condition of alertness.   I told her we were going out to the patio.

She got up and we went to the patio . We only held hands about 30 minutes then I went back to her room and I tried to turn her TV on but there was no picture.  Every thing else seemed to work and with my bad eye problem I don't know what was wrong. I will have to take a small TV and hook it up to see what might be wrong.  I cant imagine what could be wrong because everything seems to work ok.  But some of the electronics could have gone bad. After  comig home my TV was doing the same thing so I called  Comcast and we figured out is was low signal level.  They accessed the adapter and the picture was re-established.
