Pneumonia and letter

Reply to a letter from a friend.
When you have pneumonia you get weak as a kitten.  You don't want to do anything.Like sending emails. This my 4th time.  Last time I was in a coma 72 hours or 3 days.  Which ever is worse.  That was in Ft Sill just about exactly to the day 69 years ago.  One important thing did come of it.  By the time I had got my strength back and on duty the Battle of the Bulge  was over . I was sent to that  area  where the fighting occurred as replacement  and did see the carnage.  Otherwise they would have sent

me over in the middle of it.  Of all the stuff that has gone on about it don't ask the present generation about it because almost certainly they have not heard about it. As it was when I got there I got close enough to hear the guns a time or two. That is how I herocally earned   my one battle star.  As much as I hate politicians and generals who create these  wars I cant avoid having some sort of pride in participating in such a immense event.  But when you are a replacement
