How brainwashed we are

I occasionally run into a woman in a wheelchair who lives in a nearby senior apartment.  She told me I would not be seeing her for a while.  When I asked her why she said she was going in for surgery and chemo treatments.  When she told me where it was localized it was apparent  it was just about throughout her internal organs.  But they are going to operate then give her chemo which will put her in much misery.  From the description it seems to me all that will happen is that some doctors and hospitals will make a lot of money. She will die anyway.  But she is so brainwashed that she has hope something good will come of it.
