Photography in my life.

It's been a mystery to me why everyone isn't interested in taking pictures during their life, why they don't plant and have flowers wherever they live.  I have always done that. Photography has been a large part of my life and I have now made of total mess of them.  I will explain this later if you are still with me.  Now I think I will go back over how it all came about.  I am talking about pictures now and where it lead me.

Before I was able to take pictures or even get a camera my folks or a relative some way or other took some pictures. So even though I moved around a lot I have an occasional picture of me or the family somewhere. These would be added to my pictures and movies when I really got into it later about the time I got marred.   I comment on this because I found that not everyone had an interest in taking family pictures.  I met some people recently nearly my age which is ninety who have hardly a picture of their past. That was inconceivable to me.

I was able to get into photography when  I in the Army at the end of WW2 in Germany where I was able to trade a non working radio to a German for an old 2.25 by 3.75 film pack

camera. Because flash bulbs were not available I took some pictures with flash powder like in the real old days.     I had always heard of German engineering so tried to get one of their Lica cameras but to no avail.  What I did learn was they also made a lousy cameras too. I had to use one on my trip to Berlin in October '45. I  even had some glass negatives all of which of\\have  disappeared somehow.  But if you have ever worked with a glass negative it is no mystery   of how the old photographers were able to do such marvelous work.  A glass  negative is just out of this world when compared to standard negatives, even the best ones.  The effect is not obtainable in other forms of photography in my opinion.
