Two rides today
A very busy day today. I thought I would try going to Walmart on the shuttle so yesterday I requested a ride at 9 this moring. Execting to return at 10:30. The person at the shuttle estimated the arrival time at Walmart to be `10. I expected 30 miutes long enough to do the shopping. I should know better. I didn't get there until 10:15 at least so I did not have time to do shopping and I had to have Test Strips. Groceries and paper products could wait but b/g test strips I had to have. So I hurriedly called shuttle and got a delayes pickup to 11:15. That would be fine altough by experience I knew I could be getting there late for my insulin and other pills. I still was running late and was not able to get my honey and milk. For a huge store Walmart does a miserable job of keeping milk in store. No 4 percent none at all, and shortages of the half gallon. Finally the shuttle came and I got back about straight up noon. So when I finished eating lunch It was time to wait for the shuttlle to take me over to see Kay. When I was within a few minutes of arrival at Cascade Gardens where Kay stays I got a call from the nurse there that Kay had fallen but nothing apparently serious at all. When I got there and talked to the caregiver it apears she may have become overbalanced when trying to pick up something she had dropped. By the time I got there she was in the community room seemingly quite normal none the worse for falling. the hall has a fairly soft rug so she probably will have no ill effects from the fall. No one actually saw her fall. The caregiver was walking ahead and did not see her fall. I took her to her bed and gave her a truffle. She went to her room but I believe she is still confused about which bed is hers. Straightening her out may take some time. I hope I can. After she ate the truffle I took her to the activity room and brought along a gig saw puzzle for us to put together. This is one Di sent for Christmas as we had not opened it up yet. A few minutes before my ride was to come I took her back to her room for more practice of finding her room. Instead of leaving her in her room I took her back to the Activity room for her to be with the others. She did not seem sleepy. We had some extra stops on the way home so I didn't get back until about 3:30
Last night a nurse wanted to use the same lancet machine of everyone. Just change the lancet. I objected but not nough for him not to use it on me. Later as I thought it over I became quite incensed over him using the same lancer because although the needle is new the surface that presses the skin has been touching the fingers of people you have no idea where it has been. Flu bugs, feces from not washing hands stuff from handkerchiefs and just plain dirt and who knows what else. This over a long period of time and many people possibly too. My guess is he will not be doing this again. I am prepared with my own machine in case he has not learned his lesson. They tell us to wash frequently and cover our coughs but this is just the opposite of that.
