New project to teach Kay

When  I went down for dinner there was a nice surprise sitting at my place.  A package from Shirley.  I had forgotten I had talked to her about this so it was a complete surprise.  I kept the other guys guessing and didn't open it there at dinner. the guy on my right Dan is ok but the sourpuss on my right I didn't want to give him any satisfaction so I didn't open it there but brought it up to my room where I found that she had sent me a lot of truffles that I had never seen before.  That will be a nice surprise for Kay tomorrow.  I went by cab to see her where she was watching a lady harp player perform for the residents.  I took her to our spot and gave her three truffles I think.  Then we went back to her room and we lay down untl it was time to go.  I had been up until midnight so I was very tired. I was there about two hours.  She has been somewhat combative at times.  One of the women said she was found in her bed and got combative when they tried to remove her.  Which is normal as Kay obviously thought it was her bad and wanted to rest or sleep.  If they cant somehow find a way to keep her from going in other rooms she will have to be moved to the first floor where there is more supervision.  She has indicated in other things that she can learn and if they made an effort to guide her to her bed she could learn which one it is.  She has learned where the truffles are and goes right for them when I come to see her.  It would take some time but it might work.  I don't think they will do it because it has not bee done and they know best.  This is just one indication on how dementia works and in other people it expresses itself in other ways.  If they don't move her before I go back I am going to try to teach her which is her room and bed. By walking and finding her door and bed over ad over. I just talked to the nurse there and told her starting sunday when I come I am going to try to teach her to find her room.  Maybe I can put a Truffle on her bed or nightstand to encourage her to remember.  Of course this will take a while.  Normally she seems to get along with the other people there and I don't want to upset her by moving her to another floor and strange people.
