Monday visit

I went to see Kay yesterday and today.  Today she was sleeping sitting up in the  community  room.  That bothers me as you see it so common in these places.  They do try to provide considerable entertainment for the people there but there  are 24 hours in a day and they will try to keep them occupied the daylight hours.  But that is a lot of time day after day.  But she woke easily and followed me to the place in the hall where I give her the truffles and a cracker.
Sharing a walker.  Look funny?

After a while I took her to her room and we watched TV for a while but I could see she was not sleepy. So after a while I  asked her if she wanted to go to the activities room and she nodded yes.  So we went to the dinin room which doubles as a activities room when not a dining room.  We watched a table of women playing some sort of game. The leader would also indulge in some chatter and perhaps ask questions like where would you like to go for a month if you could go.  What is your first choice for a gift.  The people at the table had a good time participating.  The woman who also has the bed next to Kay was sitting at the table.  She has been planning on moving to another location.  At times I will find her bed loaded with various possessions.  One time a smallish man who is very talkative was helping her plan her move.  I asked him at the time where their car was to move all the stuff on the bed.  This has been going on for weeks.  I wondered how she managed to keep planning this move.  this has been going on for weeks.  She will fill her bed piled high with things she owns.  But today when a caregiver was in the room ad the lady told the caregiver that she was planning  on moving the caregiver bluntly told her she was not going to be moving.  She made no attempt to soften the answer.  Maybe this has been going on for a long time and I was not there to hear them tell the lady she was  not moving.

An upsetting incident occurred today at Kay's facility.  A new resident, patent, inmate,  asked how long we had been married.  This went on several times.  It reminded me that some time back  had a habit of asking a question then promptly forgetting the answer and having to ask again.  For my tastes it was too much like the resident at Kay's  place asking the question over and over. In any case I don't do it any more but I have to make an effort to remember the answer. I finally about 3:30 called the cab and went home.  Kay was able to wave as I left the room so I feel she has done this enough times that she is learning that I will be back and accepts it.
Have a nice day.  Remember.........
