Tuesday the 21'st

 Kay was in bed.  I stayed with her until it was time for exercises in the activity room.  Even though she does not participate she willingly goes with me.   Even though they are not strenuous they are especially beneficial to diabetics because they exercise all muscles and burn up b/g.  After exercises we went outside to enjoy the spring sun.  Then it was back to her room where in a short time it was time to catch my bus.  The state is in the process of their annual investigation of Assisted Living facilities.  They are supposed to  take a couple days. 

To keep notes I bought a tiny sony digital sound recorder.  The recorder is fine but the software with it is the worst I have seen anywhere.  It is only good to talk into and listen to. If I had bought it from Costco (plug) I could still take it back.  But forget taking it back to Walmart under these conditions.  By the time you get something out of present day plastic containers and your back from the Emergency room at the hospital to get fixed up from the cuts from the plastic container   Walmart wont take it back.   

Cab to old country buffet with Robin

 Robin came down today which was Superbowl Sunday and took me over in his T Bird to visit Kay.  because the T Bird will only hold two people we had to get a Cab to take us to the Old Country Buffet as it will not hold three.  Kay ate like she had not eaten for days. They tried to tell me she had not lost weight when I said she was losing weight but the way she eats it didn't look like it. She ate lots of cottage cheese,  baked beans, and any other thing that Robin got for her.  She has no trouble eating  regular food as none of it was Puree'd at all.  I would like to get to the bottom of this if she is not eating the food there at the Cascade Gardens.  But we always have a good time  when she is taken out by anyone.  Robin said Mary has pneumonia and has had it for some time.  I got over mine right away fortunately.  

There had been a lot of touting by the company about events to be going on in celebration of Superbowl Sunday like treats an o'r derve table I doubt that is spelled right.  But actually it was the most amateurish effort,  There was supposed to be a lavish table of crackers, cheeses, spreads.  You know what is involved in creating a professional laid out table.  No doubt you have been to many over your life.  Normally I would not comment on this it was touted to be such a great event in honor of the Superbowl but it was so bad I could not believe it.  First was a plate of some slices of white and yellow cheese that we usually get on our hamburgers.  Then there was some very normasl crackers, potato chips, some chicken wings.  I had to ask for a napkin as the wings were very sloppy of course.  But good other wise. Then we had ONE spread. Topped off with a package of Oreo cookies of a flavor I had never tasted in an Oreo.  I could have just about put on as lavish a spread from what is in my refrigerator  I think!  I was really looking forward for this but I was hugely disappointed.  I fondly remember going to some thing like this and trying something new. I thought it was supposed to start at 2 but it kept being pushed back until I just came down after 3.  Dinner was supposed to be hamburgers which I like very much as they normally provide enough makin's for a good do it yourself  burger.  I got in the dining room after they had made a run through and when they got to me I had to wait awhile because the head cook said it was chaos in the kitchen.  Making hamburgers?  They made them without allowing us to pick what we wanted on them.  A nice piece of onion is something I like but there was no onion at all. I like to pick out the makin's and leave out the buns because I am diabetic.  All in all it was a huge disaster as far as I can see.  They have a routine and when they get out of it things go to pot looks like.  But I suppose they tried.  Besides the SeaHawks clobbered the Bronco's.  Fortunately in a week they may be tired of talking about it and we can get back to normalcy  Christmas is not as big a deal as the Seahawks.  At least after Christmas they stop talking about it. This has been going on forever it seems like.  

 I had tom buy another Chromecaster to try broadcasting my  computer to my bedroom TV.  But it didn't even fire up the ROM in the device so I have already repacked it and am ready for Tom to take it back to WalMart. Too bad, I would have liked something that could do what it was supposed to do.   No pictures today as my camera battery was dead.

I just deleted about a half hour of typing bringing news upto date.  But I hit a wrong key and it disappeared.  I have a cab driver who drive me around and takes pity of me by not charging me very much.  Getting round with a walker and on a bus is almost impossible.  He took me to Walmart to get a replacement camera for one stolen a couple days ago.  He then dropped me off at Kay's place. I insisted ongiving him more than he asked for.  But it was still not nearly what another cab would charge.  I call him  for rides or I don't go as it would cost too much.  Kay was alert so  I took her out on the patio for a while then back to her room.  Nothing different today.  On the way out I stopped at the nurses station and talked to the head nurse who was not responsible for the order not to give Kay hard candy so she was going to look into what could be done about the restriction;  She thought maybe it could be solved by signing some consent form or whatever it takes for responsibility to go on us in case of problems.  The best solution.  Kay has eaten this candy for a year without a problem.  She wont choke as she does not eat it like other people eat hard candy.   Kay expects the piece of candy when I visit.  It is the igh part of her day so I want to give it to her 

Joe Morgan told me how his family takes care of his mother who had dementia.  The whole family participates in her care.  A sister takes her in and the other come in periodically to give them relief.  I think his mother is further advanced than Kay is.  

When I left Kay today she waved to me like she expected me to leave but would see me tomorrow. That is a real nice feeling to see that in her. That I see her would be ok and did't need to go home with me.

Don't expect help from Wal*Mart

I bought a 2 wheeled electric scooter from Walmart and within a short time the rear tire wore out.  ( I wont tell you which country it came from)  You would expect to go  where you bought the merchandise for parts.  But NO, not Walmart.  They flat out told me they don't sell parts.  Or even have a relationship with the store they sold it from. So to fix it I had to go to the open market and pay double for another rag made in the un-named country.  Besides the scooter is dangerous because it does not have disc brakes.  These rim brakes cant handle the weight properly so you must plan ahead when you want to stop before running into the side or front of a car for instance.  When I bought it from Walmart I just assumed it had disc brakes.  This piece of rag is going to cost almost 40 bucks for a small tire and tube. I learned my lesson about Walmart. Have a nice day.
