Visit December 9, 2013

Watching TV

The trip to see Kay didn't get me there until 1:30.  That leaves me only an hour to visit.  I got off the elevator and turned left to the door leading to the community room but she was not there.  I backtracked to the next door leading to the dining room and no luck either.  I went on down the hall a few paces to her door and went in the entry room and to the right leading to her bed closest to the entry door.  The bed had been occupied but she was not in it.  The TV was off.  I went back into the entry room and turned right into the adjoining room.  There she was in someone elses bed. I got her out and we shared my walker to our favorite place for treats and she ate a couple truffles and a cracker or  two.   The poor lady who can talk well, looks good and dresses well was still looking for her sweaters.  She has been doing this for several days.  I have not seen her in this condition before.  She knows me but does not seem to have any major problems.  But recently she has missed a couple sweaters.  Whether real or imagined I have no idea.  She first wanted to get to the basement or outside to get the person who has them.  Today she asked me if the window I was sitting at opened.  It is a floor above the ground.  It doesn't of course.  That is sad. It was about 2 pm when we lay on the bed so I was not going to have much time with Kay today. About 10 minutes before the time the bus is to arrive I have to start preparing for it.  Sometimes I have to take her to the community room if she does not want to stay in her room.  Then  I have to find a caregiver to call the elevator for me.  the call buttons are under a locked cover. Sometimes I have to look around so I need nearly 10 minutes to do all this to avoid missing the driver.  They are supposed to wait 5 minutes but one time the driver asked someone about me and that person said I no longer lived there.  It must have been a patient.  So he left.  All the employees know me but the patients have a poor memory and don't remember me.
