It is all the rage at the moment to pay the balance on Layaway merchandise for people who don't have the money to pay for it all at once. Maybe you have put something on Layaway sometime in the past. Most people do it because they just don't have the money. So the people who pay the layaway balance sees that it goes to the needy.
Have you ever heard of Bill Gates with his millions ever doing anything like that? He gives money but in all instances as far as I can see he gives money to big institutions who will makes his name famous. That seems to be what he is working for. Fame. Take the woman who runs an organization that donates dresses to children in Africa. These dresses go to the individual girl who is in need. Not to some government agency who can buy her computer programs. True charity goes to those who can do nothing for you in return.
