Observations on getting old
In our Cub Scout days.
I think one of the most despicable things about getting old is the attempt by the younger ones to take over without asking what you think about it. They just assume that they are more competent to know what you need even though you have spend decades handling your own affairs and not think about it's effect on you. Your outlook will probably have changed over the years but so be it. You don't need to think about things like you did 40 years ago. When we moved something was taken in the move because what it was wasn't what someone thought I should have in my possession. But the fact is it was mine and taken without my permission. That was absolutely wrong. We could have discussed it and an agreement decided on. But it was stolen without my permission.
I don't think in all the years we took care of Kay's dad that we interfered in what he wanted. We respected his wants and did what we could to have him accomplish it.
