More Dementia

Kay seems to be improving physically from the pain and probably fracture but I keep close watch on how she is responding mentally. Physical recovery  is very slow. at 88 however nothing but time is fast. She will use my walker some times and I have a prescription for a walker for her.  After dinner I was making a little desert and asked her to get a banana for me to cut up./  She had a piece of a paper towel in her hand and so asked me if that is this what I wanted.  Somehow she could  not change things in her mind from the paper towel in her hand to getting the banana almost next to her in the fruit bowl.  These things could be very upsetting but as I can not do anything about it I   go to other things. .  I appreciate being near her for what remains of her self from the past. Anything I can do to make her life easier I will do.She doesn't have any of the problems other victims do with her ability to maintain her bodily functions.  She still makes the bed after getting out of it.  She keeps the kitchen clean usually.  I cant get her to put dishes in the dishwasher when she stacks them.  But stacking helps. Occasionally she will put them in and do the wash.  Every night she continues to bring the chairs in from the patio.  When she forgets to to that she will be in bad shape for sure..

Take a look at Bills war. His widow created a story of his service with the 39th FA in WW2. Find it at Four years in the 3rd Inf in WW2
