How much pain

Things are bad today

Kay is pretty bad today.  Seems pretty lethargic.  I decided to take her to Fred Meyers to get out of the apartment.  First she put on her shoes without socks although she did recognize that was not right.  Finally, after getting dressed she  said for me to go. I asked if she was in pain.  She held her finger to her head and drew a circle  indicating she wasn't thinking clearly. With that  I decided to go pick up some soup and a  couple other things on the scooter. 


I went to the dentist (again) a couple days ago and took her with me as I cant leave her alone.  She sits in the chair for people who come with the patient. This was sort of a long session and has periods of waiting sometimes with my mouth open.  Two times  now after a while she comes over and holds my hand.  I think that is nice.  The technician who is pregnant must think it is real if she does this after 70 years.  Sets a good example.  Right?

Kay's new problem

About a week and a half ago Kay developed a big pain in her back.  Excruciating pain.  Eventually I got an appointment with an orthopedic doctor because the x-rays didn't show anything.  The new Dr. could not find anything either but thought it might be a fracture in a place or so small not visible.  So we are now trying to allow it to heal while keeping the pain manageable with pain pills.  Dementia is not helped when you are in a lot of pain.  Hopefully I can keep her down and let it heal.  I think this is the problem as it started suddenly like these things do. Kay's new problem

Kay developed a new problem the past 24 hours.  We went to Tom and Peggy's for Easter dinner.  When we got back she complained of looks like to me pain in her hip.  She had actually complained before we left and i had to give her some oxycodone.  More at Tom's.  then at bedtime I gave her a couple tylenol PM to get her to sleep through the pain.  This morning her hip hurt a lot after she had taken a bath.  At the moment she is in a lot of pain and we managed to get a Dr. appt this afternoon at 2:30.  From the location of her pain they will probably want to take some x-ray/s.  Whoo-me.  Her we go again. Her dementia seems to be pretty normal and not particularly worse.
