Uproar in the dining room

Uproar in the dining room today.  If everyone showed up to eat at once there would be about 100 people to serve.  To give everyone equal service they have two rows of tables.  One meal they start at one end and the next they start at the other end.   This supposedly gives everyone a equal chance to be served.  unfortunately it does not always run smoothly.  The  aim is to begin serving at 12:00.  But of course problems in food preparation can vary the start time. As everyone can order a variation of the main entry the server must have the record of what goes where.  Today we had a new guy who was both inexperienced and needed to carefully monitor what dish goes where.  Making the dishes up in the kitchen also may be more difficult and slow for him.  As a result getting served can be very slow.  Old timers can ber much faster than the new inexperienced guy.  So it was 1:00 before we at the end were being served.  Many people wont wait and leave to snack at the machine or in their room.  We here at the end table decided to wait and see how long we had to wait.  Unfortunately not necessarily silently.  During this time Alma and the lady across the table got into an argument.  Both can have hair trigger tempers.   Alma should never be questioned about anything she says no matter how innocently.  The other lady can be quick to resent situations that arise.  So D------ ate just a couple bites of her lunch when it arrived then left in a huff over the tiff with Alma.   She has said she just lets these things roll off her but that is easier said than done.  The last person who sat in her chair left because of Alma's vitriol. Me? I just sit there and listen.   This is just an abbreviated recounting of what went on but as I type so slowly I cant tell  all of it.  This place has been here for about 20 years so you would think it had all the kinks ironed out but no way. Just like home.
