All the overhanging branches have been taken down.
So much for an old news hound. there was a story right outside the building and I screwed it up. The past several days there has been a lot of racket going on and people said a tree had blown down and it was being removd. Well, I have seen lots of trees blown down and lots removed and none has taken several days. Finally today on Sunday the work continued and I have recovered enough to wonder what it was all about so decided after lunch to check it out. I took a light jacket and no hat so I was not prepared to go out in the rain. But as it was a light rain I went out to the north end of the building where my apartment is. Sure enough there was a tree but it had not blown over. It was a big maple or some decidious tree that had probably been growning there for many years, The building there is 3 stories plus the roof as it is built on a hillside. But in about 6 feet from the alley within a couple feet it had been growing since the building was built as a hotel. This kind of tree in this country grows fast and big. So for some reason all of a sudden the brass decided to cut it down. From the vehicles paint job it looks like they are a small outfit. Sort of like " The Dukes Hazzards" There was about 5 or six working on it. One woman helping with the clean up. Looked to me like a family affair. Now this has been going on for 3 or perhaps 4 days. When I got there from lunch everything was down except for the trunk and about 30 feet up splitting up into several branches some overhanging the roof. Of course that is the problem. How to get the branches down without falling on the roof and doing damage. Not using a crane that would be a tricky part. So here is where the news guy went wrong. I didn't know that I had my point and shoot in my pocket and decided to go back to the apartment and get a warm coat and hat. They were now at the stage to do the tricky part of getting the overhanging branches down. Unfortunately in the short time it took me to get back they were gone. So the pictures you see will not be those. I have had pneumonia the past couple weeks and not interested in anything. I had put the camera in my pocket but I had forgotten. 3 days maybe 4 for this job. I don't see why one man in a bucket with normal clean up could not have done this job in day or day and a half. That's how power company's do it. Put a guy in a bucket and up he goes. This was a little tricker but I notthat much.
