Blue Eyes Brown Eyes.

It is heart breaking to listen to Kay try to get out something that is in her mind and can not do it.  We had come back from Old Country Buffet and I was sitting at the computer looking at a video Bob and I had made several years ago.  She came in and watched it with me over my shoulder for a while then tried to ask me a question about her mother.  As far as she could get was "Did you ever think that ...... "  She tried rewording it  several times and could never quite bring out the words she needed for me to get what she wanted to tell me.  I couldn't quite make out what she was driving at so in the end she had to give up and leave.  I tried a couple times to answer as if I knew what she was trying to tell me but I don 't think I quite made her think I knew what she was trying to tell me.  After  a few minutes I went in to comfort her if it was bothering her a lot.  She had been thinking about it all that time and brought up the subject again and this time began asking me if I ever wondered if she was "dark" because her eyes were brown.  Of course I had never wondered because she was very white skinned. Anyway all her family are white so I didn't question it.  But it really had bothering her for some reason when she was looking at the pictures.  I asked her what color eyes her dad, Shirley, and her mother were and she knew instantly.  Her mom was brown and her dad and sister were blue.  So for some reason looking at the wedding pictures of her sister got her to wondering for some reason.  I was able to tell her I never wondered.  My mother told her that she was the first person in our family not to have blue eyes.  I have no idea if that had anything to do with the question today but it  did make an impression on her those many years ago. Maybe it has been with her all these years. 


I feel better since she got it out.
